28-Year-Old Woman Killed in Fatal Collision near Jensen Avenue

FRESNO, CA (August 24, 2021) Mariana Godinez, 28, of Reedley, died Monday morning after a collision involving a semi-truck on Highway 99.

The fatal accident occurred shortly before 2:00 a.m. on August 23 on southbound Highway 99, just south of Jensen Avenue.

According to California Highway Patrol officers, Godinez’s blue four-door car collided with the back of a semi-truck. The car ended up underneath the truck.

Despite efforts to save her life, Godinez was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries reported.

Furthermore, officials stated that the crash reduced traffic to one lane.

Investigators said the truck driver was traveling at the posted speed limit. However, the crash is still under investigation.
