Multiple Pronounced Dead after Multi-Vehicle Accident near Simon Drive

LA QUINTA, CA (May 21, 2024)Maria Reyes, Katherine Vogts and Brandt Celli died Tuesday night in a car crash on Highway 111 and Simon Drive. The incident occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m., on May 14th.
Officers say the first crash involved a pedestrian and a motorcyclist. Both victims died at the scene due to the severity of the impact. Shortly thereafter, a westbound white Chevrolet pickup truck struck a person who was assisting the victims of the first collision. This individual also died at the scene. Another person sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital by paramedics for further treatment. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office later identified the deceased as 33-year-old Reyes, 47-year-old Vogts, and 26-year-old Celli. During preliminary investigations, authorities assessed the pickup truck driver and found no signs of impairment. No further information has been released, and the investigation is ongoing. Witnesses to the crash are encouraged to contact local authorities immediately.
