Francisco Jauregui Arrested after DUI Accident near Acacia Avenue

SUTTER COUNTY, CA (February 28, 2023)-Monday night, Maria Flores Soto and Andres Ambriz lost their lives in a fatal DUI crash on Highway 20.

The incident happened on February 20th, just after 10:00 p.m., on Highway 20, near Acacia Avenue.

According to reports, a 2021 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 43-year-old Francisco Jauregui, veered into the opposite lane of the highway. There, it collided head-on with a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Soto. The impact of the collision left Soto, Ambriz, and another 15-year-old passenger with serious injuries.

Emergency crews at the site of the collision reported that 25-year-old Maria Flores Soto and 16-month-old Andres Ambriz died as a result of the accident. Meanwhile, the 15-year-old passenger was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Following the collision, Jauregui tried to flee the scene but officers caught and arrested him shortly after. He was charged with DUI causing injury or death, gross vehicular manslaughter, and attempting to flee the scene.
