32-Year-Old Woman Arrested after DUI Hit-and-Run near Grand Avenue

LAKE ELSINORE, CA (August 17, 2022) – Saturday night, Margarita Rosales was arrested after a fatal DUI crash on Lake Street.

Emergency crews responded to the scene around 10:30 p.m., in the 2900 block of Lake Street near Grand Avenue.

Per reports, Rosales was driving north when she struck a sedan that was turning east onto Lakeshore Drive. Upon impact, Rosales fled the scene without contacting authorities.

The sedan driver suffered life-threatening injuries before they were later pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, two other occupants suffered unspecified injuries.

Crews were able to locate and arrest the suspect minutes after the collision. As a result, police charged Margarita Rosales with suspicion of manslaughter, driving under the influence, and two counts of felony hit-and-run.

Officers took Rosales into the Southwest Detention Center in lieu of $75,000 bail.
