Two Riders Hospitalized after Motorcycle Accident near Diamond Mountain Road

CALISTOGA, CA (April 20, 2022) – Saturday evening, Marc Ferneau and Laura March were hurt in a motorcycle collision on Highway 29.

Around 9:45 p.m., the incident happened just north of Diamond Mountain Road. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

Police said Ferneau was riding a 2018 Harley-Davidson south on Highway 29 just north of Diamond Mountain Road with his passenger, March.

For reasons unknown, the motorcycle veered over the center line directly into the patch of an oncoming pickup-truck. As a result, the two vehicles collided.

The impact ejected both Ferneau and March from the bike onto the road. Moreover, Ferneau was not wearing a helmet at the time.

Eventually, medics transported the two riders to nearby hospitals for further treatment. Although, authorities have not released any updates regarding their current condition.

Meanwhile, the 66-year-old and 69-year-old occupants of the Ford pickup-truck did not sustain any injuries.

Authorities temporarily closed down a large portion of the roadway to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. Per the preliminary investigation, alcohol may have played a role in the collision, but an active investigation is still ongoing.

To prevent motor vehicle accidents, stay alert and drive defensively. When crossing a busy intersection, exercise caution. Always activate your turn signal or blinker before making any turns. Be aware of your blind spots and pull into the roadway slowly. If you are turning on a road with no dedicated left-turn signal or lane, be patient and make sure there is no obstruction to your view.
