Hit-and-Run Collision near East Gowan Road Left One Fatality

LAS VEGAS, NV (July 25, 2022) – Early Saturday morning, Marc Anthony Olivas was arrested after a fatal bicycle accident on North Pecos Road.

The hit-and-run collision occurred around 2:30 a.m., near East Gowan Road on July 9th.

Per reports, the driver of a pickup-truck lost control of his vehicle for reasons unknown and struck a light pole. The pickup-truck then struck a bicyclist that was heading north on the sidewalk, before striking a nearby wall.

Upon impact, the involved driver fled the scene without rendering aid to the severely injured victim. Paramedics arrived shortly after and pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene.

At this time, authorities are withholding the identity of the victim for the time being, pending notification of next of kin.

Officials later arrested 25-year-old Olivas and charged him with reckless driving, failure to stop at the scene of an accident, and driving without a valid license.
