17-Year-Old Girl Struck and Killed by DUI Driver near Martin Luther King Jr Avenue

TULARE, CA (March 15, 2022) – Authorities arrested Manuel Correia after a fatal DUI accident on Blackstone Street, Sunday night.

According to police, the crash occurred around 9:00 p.m., in the area of Blackstone Street, just south of Martin Luther King Jr Avenue.

Investigators claimed that 83-year-old Manuel Correia struck two teens while driving his 2021 Chevrolet Colorado pickup-truck.

First responders arrived and transported both teens to a hospital, where one 17-year-old succumbed to her injuries. Meanwhile, the other girl, said to be in her late teens, remained in critical condition.

Furthermore, authorities learned that the driver was intoxicated when the incident happened.

Tulare Officials eventually arrested Correia for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI charges.
