Well, this is no good. The Dodgers put Manny Ramirez on the disabled list today due to a strained right calf.

In 13 games this year, Ramirez has looked like the Manny who dazzled the Dodger faithful when he first came over in 2008, putting up some sizzling stats — .415/.500/.615 — and a Ruthian OPS+ of 209. (Small sample size, yadda yadda.)

He has missed a couple starts due to his calf, and he aggravated it running out a single in the sixth inning of last night's loss to the Reds. He will be eligible to return on May 8.

Offense has not been the problem for the Dodgers so far this year. It's

been defense and pitching, especially the bullpen, and even more

especially George Sherrill.
