Two Pronounced Dead after Head-On Collision near El Monte Road

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA (August 7, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, a man and a woman were killed in a head-on accident on Interstate 280. Authorities responded to the scene around 1:10 a.m., just north of El Monte Road on July 29th. Officers say the driver of a 2007 Honda Civic was heading north in the southbound lanes. As a result, the Honda struck an oncoming 2021 Toyota Avalon head-on. Medics arrived and pronounced the 23-year-old female driver of the Honda and her 23-year-old male passenger dead at the scene. Although, police have not yet released their identities. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the two occupants from inside the Toyota to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Following preliminary duties, police suspect that the driver of the Honda was under the influence. Officers blocked the southbound lanes of the interstate and motorists were advised to use El Monte Road before they were reopened around 6:00 a.m., on Sunday.
