A man indicted by a Los Angeles grand jury this month for uploading a pre-debut copy of X-Men Origins: Wolverine was arrested in New York Wednesday morning, federal authorities said.

The indictment alleges that 47-year-old Bronx resident Gilberto Sanchez uploaded a pirated copy of the film to megaupload.com on March 31, a full month before the movie's May 1 release. X-Men Origins, starring Hugh Jackman, reportedly grossed more than $373 million at worldwide box offices.

The L.A. federal grand jury indicted him on Dec. 10, and authorities caught up with him in the Bronx Wednesday. Sanchez could face three years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.

The grand jury alleges he used the online handles “theSkilled1,” “SkillfulGil,” “Skillz101,” and “SkillyGilly,” (aliases we're sure will work wonders behind bars, if he's convicted). The suspect was scheduled to appear before a U.S. magistrate in New York Wednesday.

The big question here is where the suspect allegedly obtained a copy of such a huge film more than a month before it hit theaters.

“The investigation into the source is ongoing,” Lisa E. Feldman, an assistant U.S. Attorney in Los Angeles, told LA Weekly. “The U.S. Attorney's Office and the FBI take movie piracy very seriously.”
