Imagine waking up one fine summer morning in the lovely San Gabriel Valley community of Arcadia, taking a stroll out to your backyard pool, and finding a dead man face down at the bottom.

That was the scenario for one unlucky homeowner today, police said:

The discovery was reported at 8:08 a.m. in the 700 block of Camino Grove Avenue, Sgt. Brian Ortiz of the Arcadia Police Department told us.

The resident “found this gentleman face down at the bottom of his pool,” he said.

Homicide? Doesn't look like it. The sarge says it appears to be either an accident or a suicide. Eek.

That pool will never be the same again.

The man lived in Arcadia but was not a nearby neighbor, Ortiz said. He appeared to be in his late 30s, he said.

The L.A. County Department of Corner will ultimately determine the cause of death.
