77-Year-Old Los Banos Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Collision near Flint Road

SAN BENITO COUNTY, CA (September 4, 2024) – One man was killed early Sunday morning, in a head-on crash on Highway 156.

Police officers responded to the scene around 6:30 a.m., along San Juan Hollister Road (Highway 156) near Flint Road.

Authorities report that the driver of an eastbound Nissan Frontier unexpectedly swerved into the westbound lanes.

This led to a head-on collision with a Chevrolet Street Rod traveling in the opposite direction. The 77-year-old Los Banos man driving the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.

The 46-year-old Castroville man driving the Nissan was transported to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Officials do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.

San Benito County officials will release the identity of the deceased driver once available. Further details on the Highway 156 head-on collision will be provided after the investigation is complete.
