Two-Vehicle DUI Crash on Highway 101 Near Story Road Killed 63-Year-Old San Jose Man

SAN JOSE, CA (February 21, 2023) – Sunday morning, a suspected DUI crash on Highway 101 claimed the life of one man. Officers responded to the fatal incident around 4:20 a.m., along northbound 101, south of Story Road. Upon arrival, the CHP learned that a red 1999 GMC Sierra lost control and rolled over the highway. The Sierra driver managed to exit the vehicle without injury. Subsequently,  a silver 2009 Toyota Camry hit the wrecked GMC. The 63-year-old male Camry driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased driver remains undisclosed to the public, pending notification from the next of kin. In the end, San Jose Officials arrested the GMC driver for suspected DUI and vehicular manslaughter. The crash also closed a portion of Highway 101 for at least two hours but has since been reopened.
