Fatal Wrong-Way Collision near Watt Avenue Left One Man Dead

SACRAMENTO, CA (July 7, 2023) – An unidentified man lost his life Tuesday morning following a two-car crash on Auburn Boulevard. The incident happened at about 7:00 a.m. on July 4th, near Watt Avenue. According to the CHP, the driver of a Lexus SUV on northbound on SR-51 for reasons unknown, veered off the east edge of the freeway, through a chain link fence, and collided with a Toyota Camry going southbound on Auburn Boulevard. Responding officers declared the 37-year-old Camry driver dead on the spot. His name is currently withheld pending notification of kin. While the Lexus driver was taken to a nearby hospital by Sacramento Metro Fire. Furthermore, the crash blocked off the surrounding area for a brief time as cleanup and preliminary duties took place. Once available, further details will be provided about the fatal crash on Auburn Boulevard.
