66-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Multi-Vehicle Crash near 7th Street

EUREKA, CA (May 28, 2024) – One man died Wednesday afternoon, and several others were hurt in a pedestrian crash at the 900 block of I Street.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m., near 7th Street.

According to reports, a driver hit a pedestrian near 9th Street and then collided with multiple vehicles. The car finally came to a halt after crashing into a nearby building.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, the 66-year-old male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Several other individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The identity of the deceased victim has not been released to the public.

Eureka officials are requesting anyone who witnessed the collision involving the pedestrian on I Street to contact the EPD’s Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU) at 707-441-4300.
