Taft Highway Pedestrian Accident Leaves One Fatality

BAKERSFIELD, CA (September 1, 2021) Police are investigating a pedestrian crash on Taft Highway that claimed the life of one person on Friday.

The fatal incident happened around 3:50 a.m. on Taft Highway near Ashe Road, the California Highway Patrol said.

In addition, the police also pointed out that the pedestrian entered the roadway before getting struck by a vehicle.

Later on, the CHP identified the deceased victim as a 35-year-old man.

At this time, the Kern County Coroner’s Office will continue to withhold the identity of the pedestrian.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain unclear. However, the Bakersfield officials believe that drugs or alcohol may be a factor in the crash.

The Taft Highway incident remains under investigation.
