48-Year-Old Man Dies in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 74 near Steinhoff Avenue

HOMELAND, CA (February 6, 2023) – Wednesday night, a 48-year-old man died following a pedestrian crash on Highway 74. The incident happened on February 1st, at around 6:30 p.m., on the eastbound lanes of Highway 74. According to reports, the man was walking along the northern shoulder when he attempted to cross onto the south side of the road. The man crossed the westbound lanes, and then attempted to cross eastbound when a 2013 Mercedes C250 struck him. Furthermore, the 33-year-old driver of the Mercedes was not able to stop the vehicle in time which caused him to crash into the man. The driver was not injured. However, paramedics from the Riverside County Fire Department pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Following the collision, officials closed down the eastbound lanes of Highway 74 for preliminary and cleanup duties.
