Male Pedestrian Fatally Struck near Petit Avenue in Granada Hills

GRANADA HILLS, CA (January 20, 2022) – Tuesday morning, a man was fatally struck in a deadly pedestrian crash on Chatsworth Street.

The incident occurred around 4:45 a.m., near the intersection of Chatsworth Street and Petit Avenue.

According to investigators, the driver of a 1973 Ford Maverick struck a man while he was pushing a cart on Chatsworth Street.

Upon impact, the Ford driver fled the scene and jumped into another vehicle before police located and placed him into custody.

Meanwhile, medics pronounced the male pedestrian dead at the scene, due to the extent of his condition. Authorities later described the victim as a man in his 50s.

Additionally, officers detained the 63-year-old Ford driver for questioning. At this time, the identity of the deceased victim remains unavailable, pending notification of the next of kin.

Granada Hills Officials are still currently working to identify the circumstances surrounding the pedestrian crash.
