Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Rancho Penasquitos Community in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA (September 9, 2021) A deadly pedestrian crash on Carmel Mountain Road claimed the life of a 50-year-old man on Sunday evening.

The incident occurred just before 10:00 p.m., in the Rancho Penasquitos community. Dispatchers arrived to the scene shortly after.

According to reports, a westbound 2017 Hyundai Elantra struck the man while he was walking outside of a marked crosswalk on 10000 Carmel Mountain Road.

Despite life-saving efforts, emergency first responders declared the pedestrian deceased at the scene.

At this time, it remains unclear if the involved driver was cited or arrested after the fatality.
