Male Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Fatal Collision near North 2nd Street

EL CAJON, CA (May 19, 2023) – Late Saturday night, one man was pronounced dead after a pedestrian collision on East Main Street.

Police responded to the scene around 11:00 p.m., near North 2nd Street on May 13th.

Officers say they received reports about a man in his 70s or 80s that was struck by a vehicle.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the male pedestrian dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released his name or place of residency.

Meanwhile, the driver that struck the man stayed at the scene and was cooperating with authorities.

Following preliminary duties, alcohol or drugs were ruled out as a potential factor. Anyone with information about the crash is urged to call the El Cajon Police Department at (619) 579-3311. Once available, further details will be provided.
