Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Accident on North Stone Avenue
TUCSON, AZ (September 29, 2022) – Friday night, a hit-and-run crash on North Stone Avenue near Grant Road claimed the life of a pedestrian.
The incident happened on September 23rd, around 9:00 p.m., in the 2500 block, between East Glenn Street and East Grant Road.
According to reports, a man was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk on Stone Avenue when he was struck by a black 2015-2018 Mercedes C Class. The impact of the collision left the male pedestrian with serious wounds.
Emergency crews arrived shortly after and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. At this time, the identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, authorities shut down the surrounding area to perform cleanup and preliminary duties.
An investigation into the circumstances leading up to the collision is currently underway. Police are also encouraging any witnesses to call 911 or 88-CRIME to provide any helpful information and remain anonymous.
