1 Pronounced Dead after Collision near Texas Street

SAN DIEGO, CA (November 11, 2021) – Saturday evening, an unidentified man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident on the 8 Freeway.

The collision occurred around 7:13 p.m., on the westbound lanes of the freeway near Texas Street and Qualcomm Way. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a man stepped out of a blue SUV that was stopped on the right shoulder when a passing vehicle struck him. After the collision, officials found a box of wine and other debris in the freeway.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether or not the driver involved stayed at the scene. Further circumstances surrounding the incident have not been made available to the public.

At this time, an active investigation is still currently underway.
