Male Driver Fatally Struck in Semi-Truck Accident near Bernardo Drive

ESCONDIDO, CA (December 13, 2021) – An unidentified driver lost his life after a big-rig collision on Interstate 15 Thursday morning.

Around 2:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a collision between a car and a big-rig just south of Bernardo Drive.

According to police, the driver of the car rear-ended the semi-truck for reasons unknown. Upon impact, the car immediately bursted into flames.

The driver of the big-rig called 911 after the collision, and cooperated with the investigation.

Responding officers and firefighters put out the fire and extricated the man. Authorities have withheld the name of the victim until his family is notified.

Investigators suspected that the victim didn’t notice the semi-truck because of the dense fog.
