Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 12 Left One Dead

LODI, CA (August 30, 2023) – Thursday evening, a big rig collision near Guard Road claimed the life of a man. The traffic collision happened, on August 24th, at around 4:00 p.m. on Guard Road, west of Interstate 5. According to reports, a Nissan was heading west on Highway 12 and a large rig was heading east on Highway 12. The Nissan driver tried to get through traffic in the eastbound direction by crossing over solid double yellow lines, colliding with the large truck. The incident occurred near a 30,000-gallon propane tank, and both vehicles were forced into the tank. As a result, both vehicles caught fire. Despite life-saving efforts, one victim died at the scene due to the extent of their condition. At this time, the driver’s identity remains undisclosed pending notification of next of kin.
