Male Driver Pronounced Dead after Car Crash on Polaris Avenue

LAS VEGAS, NV (December 10, 2021) – Early Monday afternoon, a man was killed in a fatal auto collision on Tropicana Avenue.

The accident happened around 12:00 p.m., near the intersection of Polaris Avenue and West Tropicana Avenue. Crews responded to the scene shortly after receiving multiple dispatch calls in the area.

Per reports, the driver of a 1998 Dodge Ram van was seen traveling west in the right travel lane of West Tropicana Avenue approaching Polaris Avenue.

There, a 2004 Freightliner box truck was stopped in the right lane of West Tropicana. The Dodge driver failed to slow down and eventually collided with the rear of the Freightliner.

Due to the impact of the collision, the Dodge driver suffered serious wounds. Paramedics performed life-saving measures; however, crews pronounced the 40-year-old man dead at the scene.

In addition, the Freightliner’s driver remained on site and showed no symptoms of intoxication.

At this time, the Collision Investigation Section of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is still looking into the accident.
