Traffic Collision near Slack Ravine Left Grass Valley Man Dead, 2 Injured

NEVADA COUNTY, CA (October 6, 2022) – Sunday night, a head-on crash on SR-20 left a man dead and Anthony Burgan and Alyssa Brown injured.

The collision occurred around 10:20 p.m. near Slack Ravine.

According to the CHP, a westbound 2004 Oldsmobile Alero crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. 

Tragically, the 47-year-old man from Grass Valley driving the Alero died at the scene. His name has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported the 35-year-old Jeep driver, Anthony Burgan, to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for moderate injuries. Responders also transported his passenger, 25-year-old Alyssa Brown, to a Hospital in Marysville for treatment of significant injuries.

Investigators said the high rate of speed played a factor in the incident. At this time, those with further information regarding the SR-20 head-on crash are encouraged to contact Nevada County Officials.
