29-Year-Old Man Injured in Scooter Versus Trolley Collision near Commercial Street

SAN DIEGO, CA (August 9, 2023) – Monday afternoon, a man was hospitalized after an electric scooter accident on 31st Street. Authorities responded to the scene around 3:06 p.m., near Commercial Street. Per reports, a man riding an eastbound 2016 Vespa scooter on Commercial Street lost control for reasons unknown. As a result, the Vespa rear-ended an MTS Trolley going westbound on the same street. Medical responders transported the 29-year-old man to UCSD Hillcrest for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Although, police have not yet released his identity. Officers say alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
