Pedestrian-Auto Collision in Old Town Neighborhood Left One Fatality

SAN DIEGO, CA (July 7, 2023) – Saturday evening, a pedestrian crash on Pacific Highway claimed the life of one person. The deadly incident happened around 8:30 p.m. at the 4600 block of Pacific Highway, the neighborhood of Old Town. According to the police, a pedestrian started to cross the street from the west bike lane. However, the man stepped directly into the path of a 2019 Hyundai Elantra, resulting in a collision. The Hyundai driver was only identified to be a 24-year-old woman. Emergency responders attempted to perform CPR on the pedestrian before being transported to a hospital. Unfortunately, the male victim succumbed to his injuries a short while later. At this time, authorities continue to withhold the victim’s identity, pending notification from the man’s next of kin.
