Male Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Collision near Ridgebrook Way

SAN JOSE, CA (September 9, 2022) – Early Saturday morning, one man was pronounced dead after a pedestrian crash on Hellyer Avenue.

Authorities responded to the scene around 3:33 a.m., near Ridgebrook Way on September 3rd.

For reasons under investigation, a man operating a 2007 Toyota sedan ran into three parked cars.

Afterwards, the man got out of his vehicle and began to walk when a westbound 2000 Dodge pickup-truck struck the victim.

Medics arrived and pronounced the male driver of the Toyota dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released his name or place of residency.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Dodge truck stayed at the scene until officers arrived. Police say he showed signs of intoxication and was taken into custody at the Santa Clara County Main Jail. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and vehicular manslaughter.

At this time, an active investigation to determine further details about the pedestrian crash on Hellyer Avenue is still currently underway.
