Male Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Fatal Crash near 29th Avenue
OAKLAND, CA (August 16, 2023) – Sunday night, one man was fatally struck in a pedestrian collision on Interstate 880. The incident occurred around 11:13 p.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway just north of 29th Avenue. Investigators say the driver of a gray Honda Civic struck a pedestrian in the No.2 lane who was attempting to run across the freeway from the south shoulder. First responders located the unconscious man lying on the road upon arrival. Paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries around 12:12 a.m. Meanwhile, the involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
