Male Pedestrian Killed in Semi-Truck Accident near South Houghton Road

TUCSON, AZ (January 11, 2022) – Late Tuesday night, a man was fatally struck in a pedestrian collision on Interstate 10.

According to reports, the deadly crash took place around 11:20 p.m., on the eastbound lanes of the highway. Crews responded to the scene near South Houghton Road shortly after.

For reasons unknown, an unidentified man ran into the traffic lanes and was hit by an 18-wheeler semi-truck. Due to the impact of the collision, medics pronounced the male pedestrian dead at the scene.

At this time, it is still unknown why the man ran out onto the freeway. However, an active investigation to determine further details is still currently underway.

Police officers closed the eastbound lanes of the freeway after the incident during cleanup and preliminary duties. They reopened just after 6:00 a.m., on Wednesday.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved in the deadly accident. Once available, more information will be released.
