47-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Underground Parking Garage Crash in East Village

SAN DIEGO, CA (August 16, 2023) – Friday evening, one man was fatally struck in a pedestrian accident on 11th Avenue. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m., on the eastbound sidewalk of 1000 11th Avenue. Per reports, a 47-year-old man stumbled and fell down a driveway leading into an underground parking garage. There, the driver of a 1999 Toyota Camry made a right turn into the lot and failed to notice the pedestrian. As a result, the Toyota ran over the man causing life-threatening injuries. Paramedics arrived and transported the pedestrian to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Following preliminary duties, officers determined that the 38-year-old male driver was not under the influence. Once available, further details will be provided.
