The victim was identified as 27-year-old Christopher Rothschild Cleveland. A Facebook page belonging to Christopher T. Rothschild Cleveland says he lived in Los Angeles.

An assualt with a deadly weapon was reported before 3:40 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Washington Boulevard. News reports indicated it happened in a parking lot used by an Islands Fine Burgers & Drinks.

Witness Daneille Wolff told ABC Los Angeles, “I heard a lot of screaming.”

L.A. Sheriff's Department Deputy Crystal Hernandez said the victim was found dead at the scene.

“When they (deputies) arrived, they located the victim, who appeared to be suffering from at least one gunshot wound,” she said.

No suspect description was available and the investigation was ongoing, Hernandez said.

A man with the same name as the victim, who's about the same age, is listed as having been arrested in Los Angeles County a few times. The last time was July 15, according to Sheriff's inmate records.

He was apparently booked at LAX's lockup, transferred and then released Aug. 21.

UPDATE at 2:38 p.m., Monday, Oct. 26: A Venice local who knew Cleveland casually told us he was known to hang out at the Venice Skate Park. He went to Venice High School, we were told.

We reached out to the L.A. Unified School District to confirm that but had yet to hear back.
