Male Victim Pronounced Dead after Car Crash near Saragota Avenue

SAN JOSE, CA (March 15, 2022) – A multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 280 claimed the life of a man, late Thursday evening.

According to California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 11:17 p.m., near Saragota Avenue.

Investigators say a 62-year-old Santa Clara man was driving a red Honda and made an unsafe turn from northbound Interstate 280 onto the Saratoga Avenue off-ramp.

As a result, the driver collided with the left rear of a Tesla. Upon impact, the Honda driver lost control and overturned onto one of the middle lanes of Interstate 280. Ultimately, a black Prius, silver Hyundai, and a silver Nissan hit the Honda.

Medical personnel responded and pronounced one man dead at the scene. However, no other injuries were reported.

Authorities shut down all lanes of the highway during cleanup and preliminary duties.

At this time, San Jose Officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 280. Once available, further details will be provided.
