78-Year-Old Male Driver Pronounced Dead after Wrong-Way Accident near Grove Avenue

ONTARIO, CA (March 3, 2023) – Early Tuesday morning, a 78-year-old man was pronounced dead after a wrong-way accident on 60 Freeway.

Police responded to the scene around 12:05 a.m., near the Grove Avenue off-ramp on February 21st.

Investigators say the male driver of a 2011 Honda Civic used the westbound exit ramp to enter the 60 Freeway. There, the Honda collided with an oncoming 2014 Toyota Camry.

The Toyota driver, a 56-year-old woman from Chino sustained only minor injuries. However, medics pronounced the 78-year-old Honda driver from San Bernardino dead at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased victim. Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, further details will be provided.
