54-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Girvan Road
REDDING, CA (September 12, 2023) – Friday morning, one man was fatally struck in a pedestrian accident on Highway 273.
Police responded to the scene around 6:16 a.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway near Girvan Road.
Per reports, the 25-year-old male driver of a northbound Toyota 4Runner failed to stop in time and struck a man who was attempting to cross the highway outside of a marked crosswalk.
Paramedics arrived and transported the 54-year-old male pedestrian, from Redding to Mercy Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Following preliminary duties, police do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be a factor. Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time before it was later reopened. Once available, further details will be provided.
