23-Year-Old Hyundai Driver Killed in Rollover Collision near Tamarack Avenue

CARLSBAD, CA (April 6, 2021) – Sunday morning, a 23-year-old man was killed in a multi-car crash on Interstate 5, near Tamarack Avenue.

The accident occurred around 4:45 a.m., according to the CHP.

Officers say the 23-year-old driver of a Hyundai spun out, re-entered the road, and came to a stop. Amidst the chaos, the driver was eventually ejected from the vehicle.

Shortly after, a Volkswagen Passat and a Honda struck the Hyundai. A 64-year-old man was driving the Volkswagen, and an 18-year-old male driver was operating the Honda.

The drivers of the Volkswagen and the Honda suffered minor injuries and are expected to be okay. However, the Hyundai driver was pronounced dead on scene.

Interstate 5 was closed for a brief time after the multi-car crash. But, the road has reopened.

No further information has been released at this time. Although, an active investigation is still underway.
