Simi Valley Man Killed in Fatal Crash on Interstate 5

CAMP PENDLETON, CA (September 29, 2021)  A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton early Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred around 4:55 a.m. on September 22 on Interstate 5 southbound, south of Basilone Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 19-year-old male from Simi Valley was driving a Red Hyundai car in the fourth lane, and a 47-year-old man from Arleta was also driving a tractor-trailer combo in the fourth lane.

Furthermore, the driver of the Hyundai rear-ended the tractor-trailer for reasons unknown.

Additionally, medics rushed the 19-year-old male to Scripps Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

At this time, it is unknown whether speed, drugs, or alcohol played a role in the crash. However, an active investigation is underway.
