34-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Accident near McClintock Drive

TEMPE, AZ (May 3, 2023) – Early Thursday morning, one person was killed and another was arrested after a DUI collision on Loop 202. The incident occurred around 3:00 a.m., on the eastbound lanes near McClintock Drive on April 27th. Per reports, the driver of a dump truck carrying asphalt entered open travel lanes from a construction zone directly in front of a passing Dodge Durango SUV. As a result, the Dodge driver rear-ended the dump truck. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the 34-year-old male Dodge driver dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity. Emergency crews closed three HOV lanes and the dump truck driver was assessed by officers. He was determined to be impaired at that time. Meanwhile, the roadway was blocked but was later reopened at around 8:30 a.m. Motorists were directed at McClintock Drive during the morning hours.
