Male Driver Killed in Solo-Vehicle Collision near Irvine Center Drive

IRVINE, CA (December 7, 2021) – Sunday afternoon, a man was killed in a fatal solo-car accident on 405 Freeway.

California Highway Patrol said the incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m., just north of Irvine Center Drive. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after.

According to reports, the male driver of an unspecified vehicle lost control on the southbound lanes and struck a nearby tree. However, the events leading up to the collision remain unknown. Despite life-saving efforts, paramedics pronounced the man victim dead at the scene.

The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time during cleanup duties, but has since reopened. In addition, towing services were required to remove the damaged vehicle.

At this time, authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved. More information will be provided once available.
