Fiery Crash on Serra Mesa after Police Pursuit Left Man Arrested

SAN DIEGO, CA (November 22, 2021) – Police arrested a man after a high-speed pursuit on Serra Mesa ended in a fiery crash on I-5.

Initially, the chase started on Saturday at around 11:20 p.m. in El Cahon.

According to the CHP, driver first travelled west on Route 94, then continued south on I-5 Mira Mesa area.

Eventually, the suspect slammed into a sedan near Aero Drive, causing both vehicles to spin out of control and crash.

Afterwards, the man raised his hand in the air and surrendered to the responding officers.

The police then used fire extinguishers to extinguish the flames on the vehicle.

Ultimately, authorities arrested the man and took the other female driver to a hospital for evaluation.

The CHP officials are working to identify the circumstances surrounding the fiery I-5 crash.
