Copperopolis Man and Stockton Woman Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash near Dunton Road
CALAVERAS COUNTY, CA (March 6, 2023) – Early Monday morning, two drivers sustained fatal injuries following a head-on collision on Highway 4.
The fatal incident happened around 6:30 a.m., just west of Dunton Road. First responders arrived to the scene shortly after receiving multiple dispatch calls in the area.
Investigators later learned that an eastbound 2010 Honda Insight crossed the double-yellow lines for reasons unknown. As a result, the Honda eventually collided with a westbound 2004 Toyota Tacoma.
Due to the impact of the crash, the 21-year-old female driver from Stockton and the 51-year-old male Toyota driver from Copperopolis died at the scene.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened.
At this time, the identities of the deceased drivers remain undisclosed to the public pending notification from their next of kin. Once available, further details will be provided to the public about the fatal head-on collision on Highway 4.
