37-Year-Old Motorcyclist Pronounced Dead after Fatal Collision near Powers Lane

BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 24, 2023) – Sunday evening, one man was killed in a motorcycle collision on Highway 178.

Authorities responded to the scene shortly before 9:00 p.m., on the westbound lanes of the highway just west of Powers Lane.

Per reports, the 30-year-old female driver of a westbound 2011 Dodge slowed down to turn left into a driveway.

There, the rider of a 2001 Yamaha was heading west and attempted to pass two other vehicles. The rider then sped past the cars and slammed into the left front of the Dodge.

Upon impact, the rider was ejected from the motorcycle onto the road. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the 37-year-old male rider dead at the scene.
