17-Year-Old Driver Arrested, 28-Year-Old Man Dead after Fatal Hit-and-Run near Santa Clara Avenue
ARCADIA, CA (July 10, 2023) – Late Friday night, one pedestrian was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver on Huntington Drive.
Officers responded to the scene around 11:26 p.m., near Santa Clara Avenue.
According to police, a patrol officer spotted a speeding driver in the area and attempted to perform a traffic stop. However, the driver failed to comply and sped through a red light, hitting a pedestrian in the process.
Pursuing officers then pulled over to render aid to the victim while the suspect fled the scene. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the 28-year-old male pedestrian dead at the scene.
Eventually, authorities were able to locate and arrest the suspect behind some nearby shrubbery. He was only described as a 17-year-old male resident of San Bernardino.
