Solo-Vehicle Crash Near Gopher Canyon Road Left 24-Year-Old Passenger Dead

SAN DIEGO, CA (April 11, 2023) – Early Wednesday morning, a passenger was killed in a rollover accident on Interstate 15 in San Diego.

The fatality happened around 5:10 a.m. along the southbound lanes of I-15, just north of Gopher Canyon Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a GMC Sierra pickup veered from the southbound lane for an unknown reason and went off the roadway.

Tragically, the vehicle overturned and left a 24-year-old male passenger from Moreno Valley with fatal injuries. Responding paramedics declared the man dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the 48-year-old male driver from Riverside did not receive any injuries from the incident.

At this time, the identity of the deceased passenger remains undisclosed, pending notification from the next of kin.

Authorities said that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the incident.
