Male Driver Fatally Strikes Parked Vehicle on Vernon Way near Pioneer Way

EL CAJON, CA (February 10, 2022) – Early Sunday morning, a male driver was killed in a deadly auto collision on Vernon Way.

Around 3:00 a.m., officers responded to the scene on the westbound lanes after receiving multiple dispatch calls in the area.

For reasons unknown, a man smashed his black 2010 BMW into a parked box truck in the 400 block of Vernon Way after crossing into the eastbound lanes.

Authorities described the driver as a man in his late 20s to early 30s. Due to the impact of the collision, medics pronounced the male victim dead at the scene.

Moreover, officers say no one was inside the parked truck at the time.

As of this time, it is unclear if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident. However, an active investigation to determine further details remain ongoing.
