If you want to read a brutally scathing expose of what it's like to be on Saturday Night Live, read Jay Mohr's Gasping For Airtime: Two Years In The Trenches Of Saturday Night Live. Nowadays, he has a lively blog, Mohr Stories, a radio show on Fox Sports Radio and will star with Steve Carell in the upcoming The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. He's taking over Tuesday nights at the Improv in February.

LA WEEKLY: Aren't you too famous to play the Improv?

JAY MOHR: Considering I once followed Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock there one night, I would have to say no.

What's your worst habit?

Interrupting.

Who do people say you look like?

The dad from The Incredibles.

What comedic phrases from 23012 would you like to see banned?

“Put it on eBay.” “Waiiiiit fooorrr iittt….!”

You have some sweet stories about your sons on your blog – like the baseball story, “Father, Son, Nomar” – do they inspire your comedy?

They don't inspire. I merely report. They act like apes and I expound and explain.

What's the best thing you purchased lately?

I was on my way to the Improv and realized I was still wearing my slippers from home. So I had to stop at the Beverly Center and buy sneakers. So, shoes. I went real big and treated my self to some fat laces too.
