Big Rig Collision on I-80 Causes Major Traffic Backup

COLFAX, CA (August 3, 2021) – A big rig crash on I-80 in Colfax caused major delays in traffic Sunday afternoon.

According to Caltrans, the accident occurred near Placer Hills Road on westbound I-80. As a result of the crash, both lanes of westbound I-80 were closed.

As of 5 p.m., cameras in the area were still showing significant backups. Passing traffic was then allowed to pass through the center median, CHP added.

At this time, authorities have not released any additional information. However, the cause of the accident and the factors involved are still being investigated.
