32-Year-Old Street Racer Died after Vehicle Overturned near Chandler Heights Road

CHANDLER, AZ (September 7, 2022) – Thursday afternoon, Mahad Zara was killed in a street racing near Chandler Heights Road.

The incident happened on August 25th, just before 1:30 p.m., near the intersection of Gilbert Road and Chandler Heights Road.

The crash involved a red Chevrolet Camaro and possibly a gray or charcoal Dodge. According to reports, Zara, in the Camero was racing the dark-colored Dodge when he lost control of the vehicle. The Camero rolled over and crashed into a wall, fatally injuring Zara. The driver of the Dodge fled the scene.

Emergency crews responded to the crash and transported the victim to a local hospital with serious injuries. There, medics pronounced 32-year-old Mahad Zara dead.

Meanwhile, police are encouraging any witnesses to contact them at 480-782-4130. They are looking for information that will lead to the identification of the driver of the Dodge involved in the accident.
