Lots of big stuff is happening for stand-up comic Kathleen Madigan these days. This fall, she has a cable special and DVD called Gone Madigan, and she'll join Lewis Black for her second USO tour in December. Yep, she's a bit of big shot, but her humor is still sprouted from her Midwestern background. On the joys of being single and getting Christmas cards from her friends with kids and spouses: “What kind of cards are we supposed to send out? Pictures of me sleeping late with extra money?” Or this fave: “Canada is like our attic. You forget it's up there, but when you get up there you're, like, wow, look at all this crap.” She does delve into the political; on Dennis Kucinich during the 2008 presidential election: “Dude, you cannot win, cuz you have a Star Trek haircut.” Prone to blazers and jeans, Madigan comes across as a bit of a minibadass, but as she explained to an interviewer why she wasn't participating in the Bob Saget roast, “Believe it or not, I'm not that mean.”
